The Baylor College of Medicine Doctor of Nursing Practice Program-Nurse Anesthesia produces future generations of professional nurse anesthetists who are leaders in clinical practice, as well as healthcare research, education, and policy. The program is designed in two tracks including a BSN-DNP track for RNs desiring to become CRNAs and a MS-DNP track for masters-prepared CRNAs desiring to obtain the DNP degree.

BSN-DNP Track

Registered nurses enrolled in our program complete two phases. The 18-month didactic experience covers basic and clinical sciences, healthcare delivery and policy, translational research, leadership and management. The 18-month clinical practicum provides exceptionally diverse clinical training in the provision of general, regional and local anesthesia

Upon completion of the degree requirements, graduates are eligible to take the National Certification Examination administered by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists.

MS-DNP Track

We also offer advanced standing in the DNP program for master's prepared Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists who wish to pursue a doctoral degree. CRNAs with advanced standing complete the required coursework in 24 months. The schedule of classes is designed to accommodate working professionals. Most courses are offered in an online format and you will only need to come to campus three times. Upon completion of the program, CRNAs will receive a DNP degree.
