This tournament was held last weekend and featured several of the state’s best teams the past few seasons. I’ll be breaking down some of the players that stood out in my next couple articles. Here are some guards that played well in the games I watched.
Anna Marsh

CLASS 2025
Anna Marsh
School: Mercer Island
Anna had a great showing in the game I watched. She is lightning quick with her dribble, turning the corner and getting to the basket. She is a lefty and set up her drives that way to continuously blow by the defense. She earned quite a few trips to the free throw line or finished with layups. She made some drive and kick passes to set up her teammates for open threes. Excellent ball handling skills but the quickness is what sets her apart on the offensive end. She didn’t take many shots that weren’t close to the basket, mainly because she was getting by the defense so easily. She averaged 8 points per game last season but the big stat was the 7.8 assists per game according to Max Preps. Not many high school players you will find that get that many. She was a consistent scorer in the showcase, she is a point guard to watch next season.

I was impressed with her play from the point guard position. She handles the ball well, keeps the head up and isn’t bothered much by pressure. She showed a nice offensive repirtotore with some mid-range pull ups, and shooting it off the dribble from three. Her overall basketball IQ is evident and she sees the floor well. She made some excellent passes, some off the bounce, one handed, she looked like a true point guard. Her ability to score from all levels also stood out. If this tournament is any indication, she is going to have a big season in 2025. She has shown some big strides in all aspects of the game.

CLASS 2027
State: Washington
School: Auburn
She is coming off of a freshman season where she earned 1st team all league honors for Auburn. She showed why during the tournament, displaying some great instincts. Her overall floor game is excellent. She is skilled, can handle the ball well vs pressure, and showed a few great moves getting to the basket. She has the change of pace dribbles, and knows how and when to attack. She had a few impressive moves getting downhill. The skill set is advanced and not hard to see. She’s a natural at the point guard position. Another high IQ player and one of the best in the class of 2027.

CLASS 2026
State: Washington
School: Woodinville
Jazlyn was named to the all tournament team. She showed a lot of improvement with her overall scoring during the tournament. She was effective around the basket, and looked smooth with her offensive output. She rebounded well, and had an impact with her length. She’s always been able to shoot the three well, with that being a big part of her role the last two seasons. She showed a more of a complete offensive game during the tournament, which should be a sign of things to come. Woodinville lost a lot of their scoring from last season. She will be one of the players counted on to pick some of that up. She has that ability, along with length from the wing position. She could have a breakout year in the 2025 season.

State: Washington
School: Sumner
Club: Tree of Hope EYBL
I’m always impressed with her game anytime I watch her play. She was the primary ball handler most of the time and looked solid across the board. Her ability to get downhill, shiftiness, and tough baskets in the paint stood out. She has the athletic ability to make some tough shots, she is great at setting it up with the dribble drive. She spins her way around the defense and the toughness, finishing with layups or mid-range has already been a big part of her game. It’ll likely be even better and more frequent next season. She has a nice looking jumper from three, not much she doesn’t do at a high level. One of the best guards in the class of 2026. She was named to the all tournament team and helped lead Sumner to the tourney title.
