Hello all,
they are serious possibilities that you may have recorded some effects of the Tonga islands volcano eurption on your VLF signals. Some effects on Schumann resonances can already be observed on the records of www.vlf.it principally on the IK1QFK and F6ETU records.
Paul could you please have a look to SR on 15 January from 4h14mn45s UTC (time of eruption) with a plot of SR frequencies and intensity. It can be interesting.
Thank you,
Thierry.

Dear friends,
I confirm that some of our monitoring stations have captured the effects of the event!
Here as received from the Lot Et Garonne station, in the south of France. Thanks to F6ETU Jean Marie Brieussel and F5WK Michel Brunel for their invaluable support. This is the magnetic field, received with an ICS101 induction coil.
Also by receiving station of Cumiana (Noth Italy) , with the electric field , received with a Marconi antenna, I detected the same phenomenon:
The phenomenon is also confirmed by institutional observers, such as SGO-Oulu:
A great success!
Thanks to all the operators of the OpenLab network monitoring stations for their collaboration!
Best regards
Renato Romero

I may have captured a dip in amplitude of NAA here in Pennsylvania, US. From 5-6:00UT, a noticeable reduction in amplitude can be observed. I was unable to capture phase because the GPS is not functioning at the moment.

from 4h14mn45s UTC
I don't have anything to receive SR.
And there is nothing interesting on the SID channels, at
that time or later.

Franck, the volcano exploded at 5:00 utc and to my point of view, only the blast's wave can interfere with the ionosphere.

Hello Jonathan,
there is a very similar SID on GBZ received by european VLFers. Can you compare with 14 and 16 January plots to see if this is not a daily usual fading.
Thierry.

Hi,
Here comparison of my GBZ recording between 15th and 16th, nothing really clear.
I could only say that signal strength is higher the day after (mV).
My recording for day 14th start only around 6 AM due to technical problem (computer) then could help.
Around 5 AM on 15th I get nothing.
That's it !
Have a nice day
Franck

Yes not simple to see something revelant. Can you put the amplitude scale in dB ? It would help a little.
Thanks,

WOW ! On the plot from the korean transmitter it seems that there was a clear SID probably linked to the eruption. Instead of the plots, if you have the measured values it will be better to compare them all. And make nice clear graphics :D
